Driving CBG (Compressed Biogas) Ecosystem Research: Strategy & Implementation for a Not-for-Profit Foundation

CLIENT:
The client is a not-for-profit foundation working closely with a government-affiliated think tank. The organization focuses on policy research, sectoral insights, and strategic recommendations to support national-level decision-making and development initiatives.
CONSULTANT:
The engagement was led by an experienced Strategy & Growth Consultant with 7+ years of experience across leading consulting and analytics firms. With a strong background in strategy, healthcare analytics, and policy research, the consultant brings expertise in market assessment and data-driven decision-making.
An MBA from a premier Indian business school, she has delivered high-impact projects spanning healthcare, supply chain, and digital transformation. The consultant has hands-on experience in stakeholder management, large-scale data analysis, and building strategic recommendations.
For this assignment, she played a key role in conducting in-depth research, engaging with stakeholders, and developing a structured, policy-oriented report to support national-level decision-making in health services exports.
ASSIGNMENT:
CBG Ecosystem – Strategy & Implementation Support
A. Ecosystem Analysis &; Strategy
● Comprehensive report on the CBG ecosystem, including:
● Feedstock analysis (types, availability, economics)
● Typology of CBG plants (scale, technology, capex, output profiles)
● Investment requirements and financial viability
● Demand-side analysis (off-takers and market linkages)

B. Value Chain Development
● Mapping and engagement across the end-to-end value chain:
● Industry players (developers, investors, operators)
● Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and feedstock suppliers

● Facilitation of discussions between supply-side and demand-side stakeholders

C. Investment Facilitation
● Identification and outreach to potential investors and industry partners
● Supporting the Amrit Prayas team in structuring proposals and driving investor
● conversations
● Incorporating industry feedback into location-specific strategies (e.g., Deoria)

D. On-ground Enablement
● Working with local teams to:
● Improve ease of doing business for investors
● Facilitate clearances, coordination, and execution planning
● Develop actionable project plans for implementation

E. Program Management
● Overall project management of the CBG initiative, including tracking progress
and stakeholder coordination
● Adjacent Initiatives
● Strategic and analytical support for related initiatives such as:
● Polyhouses and high-value agriculture
● Other emerging livelihood or agri-linked interventions
● Rapid assessments, feasibility analysis, and integration into broader district
strategy
OUTCOME:
Developed a comprehensive CBG ecosystem strategy covering feedstock economics, plant typologies, and investment viability, enabling data-backed decision-making and investor readiness. Strengthened the end-to-end value chain by aligning developers, FPOs, and off-takers, and facilitating market linkages and stakeholder collaboration.

Enabled investment mobilization through targeted investor outreach, proposal structuring, and incorporation of industry inputs into location-specific strategies (e.g., Deoria). Improved on-ground execution readiness by streamlining coordination, clearances, and project planning, enhancing ease of doing business.

Drove end-to-end program management of the CBG initiative, ensuring progress tracking and stakeholder alignment, while also supporting adjacent agri and livelihood initiatives (e.g., polyhouses) through rapid assessments and strategic integration into the broader district development plan.
